Evaluating the Influence of Deficit Irrigation on Fruit Yield and Quality Indices of Tomatoes Grown in Sandy Loam and Silty Loam Soils

The most important biotic stress factor impacting tomato crop biophysical, biochemical, physiological, and morphological features is water stress. A pot experiment was undertaken in a greenhouse to study the drought responsiveness of (Solanum lycopersicum) yield quality indices sandy loam silty soils. For both soils, supply levels were 70–100% FC, 60–70% 50–60% 40–50% FC ETo (crop evapotranspiration) from vegetative stage fruit ripening stage, calculated using Hargreaves–Samani (HS) model compared time-domain reflectometer (TDR) values calibrated volumetric content (VWC). conducted as 2 × 4 factorial experiment, arranged completely randomized block design, with four treatments replicated times. In this study, we examined how soils at different % affect total marketable components tomatoes, concentrating on soluble solids (Brix), firmness, dry mass, pH, titratable acid (TA), ascorbic (Vit. C), carotenoid composition. Lycopene β-Carotene estimated UV spectroscopy method, absorption spectra bands centered 451 nm, 472 485 502 nm. results revealed that even though there some limitations, TDR-based soil moisture had strong positive correlation HS-based evapotranspiration, R2 = 0.8, indicating an improvement whereby TDR can solely be used estimate content. Tomato plants subjected (ETo) recorded highest solids, acidity, content, β-carotene peak 482 lycopene lower juice reduced yield. Similarly, throughout growing season achieved good percent chlorophyll (SPAD), minimum pH high textural types. It concluded subjecting has constructive impact tomatoes.
